Our Family Remedies for the Season of Sniffles
As usual, with the arrival of cooler temperatures comes the arrival of the typical autumn fevers, coughs, and colds. There was once a time when we would reach for paracetamol and similar remedies to suppress these symptoms — but now we recognise that our bodies need these processes to heal themselves.
So, we thought we’d share some of our go-tos that help us when the kiddies’ fevers arrive…
Herbs and Fruit from the Garden
Chamomile, thyme, oregano, lemon, and mint are some of the usual heroes that help with fevers, coughs, colds, and congestion.
We know how hard it can be to get kids to drink certain herbal teas — we’ve definitely had our fair share of turned-up noses at some of the blends! A wonderful tip we’d love to share, which a herbalist friend gave us, is to create a warming herbal footbath for them instead. All those healing herbs can be absorbed through their feet! The boys absolutely love a herbal footbath when they’re feeling unwell — it’s so soothing and comforting, especially when they’re shivery or feverish.
Chloe also strongly recommends The Herbal for Mother and Child by Anne McIntyre, which is packed with information on natural remedies and concoctions to help manage all the common childhood ailments. It has become her bible for herbal healing whenever the children (and we!) are unwell.
Homeopathy
We first started using homeopathy about five years ago, when we began seeing a family homeopath, and we’ve had some incredible results as a family. Chloe also attended an Introduction to Homeopathy course, which gave her greater insight into how to choose remedies for the kids depending on how they’re presenting at that moment.
With homeopathy, there’s no “one-size-fits-all,” but the book Homeopathic Remedies by Asa Hershoff is an amazing reference guide for anyone wanting some guidance on which remedy to give and when.
As a general rule, the blend known as ABC (Aconite, Belladonna, and Chamomilla) has been our go-to for fevers — and most of the time, it helps the boys get back to sleep when they’re having a rough night. (We can confirm it works for adults too — it’s effective for all ages!)
When the boys are unwell and their fever progresses to a full-on cold, flu, or cough, each of them tends to respond differently to different remedies. This book has been a real lifesaver in helping Chloe know which one to choose and when.
Frequency Healing
As you’ve probably seen, we’ve been using the Healy device for just over a year now, and the boys often come and ask to use it when they’re feeling unwell or out of sorts. We’ve been blown away by the accuracy of the bioresonance scanner when using it with them — it’s an amazing way to support their bodies’ natural healing, and also to help them emotionally when they’re feeling under the weather.
.Chloe also offers free remote scans and demos for anyone who’d like to explore frequency healing — contact her on the link below if you’d like to learn more.
The Healing Power of Being in Nature
We’re also huge advocates of the healing power of simply being in nature — barefoot grounding, plenty of fresh air, and soaking up the sunshine for a good dose of vitamin D. There’s even science out there (if you want to seek it out!) that shows how time spent immersed in nature helps boost your immune system.
We hope you find this helpful if you or your family are struggling with the autumn “poorlies”. Remember, as unpleasant as the symptoms can be, they’re your body’s way of healing itself. So rather than suppressing them, try to support your body as much as you can — and trust in its natural wisdom to bring you back to balance.
We’re always researching new ways to support our bodies through the healing process, and we’d love to hear what works for you too.
